Cutting your energy costs, and increase your energy efficiency needn't cost a fortune. By understanding what you can control, you can substantially reduce your energy bills by 30%, or more. We've compiled a list of no cost or low cost ways for you to save energy.

1. Use Timers for your boiler, hot water, and lighting 2. Use energy efficient lighting bulbs (CFL's) 3. Install a lagging jacket on your hot water cylinder 4. Increase insulation in your attic (250mm) 5. Turn off radiators in rooms that are not in use 6. Caulk door and windows and/or replace with energy efficient products 7. Consider alternative home energy technologies such as wind or solar power
!Turn off everything you are not using (lights, plugs, electrical appliances)
!Boil only as much water in the kettle as you need
!Use a shower as an alternative to a bath
!Close doors in rooms not being used
!Use washing machines/dryers/washers when full only
!Wash clothing at at the lowest temperature
!Defrost your fridge/freezer at least once ever 6 months
!Fix all dripping or faulty hot water taps
!Lower thermostat temperatures on radiators/heaters in rooms not being used
!Draft Proof all relevant windows and doors
!Install modern vents in the walls of your building
