Thermography, is the production of non-contact infrared pictures from which temperature measurements can be made.
An infra-red camera is used to conduct a Building Thermographic Survey. The camera is used to scan the building envelope to detect temperature variations indicating defects often invisible to the naked eye. It is a non-invasive and cost effective diagnostic tool.
Using the latest in Infrared camera technology it is possible to externally or internally survey a building and locate areas of heat loss. This is invaluable in identifying such problems as quality of workmanship, thermal bridging and condensation.
Thermographic photography can also be useful in identifying air leakage paths when more cost effective methods (smoke pencil) cannot be used. Good thermographic images can also provide proof of detailing on thermal bridging around junctions such as windows, doors and roof areas.
Future Energy use high resolution cameres to produce good quality images. Future Energy are also trained by the Institute of Thermography as use of this equipment requires a high level of skill, experience and training to conducting surveys effectively and interpret images correctly.
